Gandules (Pigeon Peas): One of the Best Trees in the Food Forest!

Gandules trees are very versatile and have become one of my favorite plants to plant in the garden.

Growing a gandules tree from seed to tree takes about a year. Shortly after, they produce flowers that develop into bean pods which contain the edible gandules.

We eat them green (raw)

or let them dry on the tree to be cooked.

Dried seeds can also be planted. Growing a gandules tree from seed to tree takes about a year.

I like to plant them wherever I need stakes for tomatoes and beans.
